How it works
Herald Lab turns a last name into a commemorative heraldic document: researched surname history, honest arms association when sources allow, and a printable digital PDF. Six clear steps — no mail, no waiting weeks, no mystery crest factory.

1. Choose your document
- Standard — Origin of your Last Name ($49) — clear surname-origin PDF; arms associated with the surname on selected variants. The elegant everyday gift.
- Executive Digital Pack ($99) — extended narrative plus HD full-achievement artwork on a parchment-style printable PDF. The fuller presentation.
- Anniversary Dual ($89) — two surnames, two associated coats of arms, one page. Built for weddings and anniversaries.
- Templates (family tree / DIY arms) are instant downloads and skip research.
2. Enter what we need at checkout
- Last name (required) — the surname to research.
- Second last name — required for Dual documents.
- Country or region (optional) — helps when sources list several branches.
- PDF language — English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Romanian, or Swedish.
That is all. No shipping address. No frame size. No “select your crest from a dropdown.”
3. We research the surname
A specialist reviews historical and heraldic references for:
- Origin and meaning of the surname where attested.
- Spelling variants and geographic notes.
- Coats of arms historically recorded for families of the name, or arms commonly associated with the surname.
We do not invent an “official” crest for everyone who shares a spelling. If arms cannot be documented, we say so — and may supply a labeled decorative reconstruction when the pack includes artwork.
4. We build the PDF

6. If the name cannot be researched

Why this is not a random clip-art crest
Generic crest shops often reuse the same artwork for unrelated customers. Herald Lab researches the surname you enter, prefers documented associations, and keeps surname artwork consistent so a relative’s later reorder matches yours.
Honesty, always: a coat of arms is not an entitlement of everyone who shares a last name. Our PDFs are commemorative digital heraldic documents — not grants of arms.
